No, they are independent events hosted by different groups, just brought together during one three day fun-filled weekend to top off the summer.
What's a Volksmarch?
Volksmarch is German for "people's march". A volksmarch is a non-competitive fitness walk. Participants typically follow a 6K or 10K predetermined path or outdoor trail. Our volksmarch will wind along the scenic banks of the Kishwaukee river as well as thru several areas of our community. Walkers can start anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and are asked to finish by 2:00 p.m. It is not a race, but simply a fitness and pleasure walk.
What is the timeline for all the events and how much do they cost?
There are events planned for each of the three days during the Volksfest Weekend. Here they are in a nutshell:
Friday, September 8th - Gates at 6:00 p.m., Event 7:00 p.m until 10:00 p.m.
Lucha Libre Wrestling. Come out and see the hottest regional stars in all their costumed glory!

Saturday, September 9th from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The seventh-annual Volksmarch winds its way along the banks of the Kishwaukee River and through several sections of Genoa. You may choose to participate in either the 6K or the 10K event, and may begin anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00. We ask that you finish by 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 9th from 2:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
The Craft Beverage Event takes place in and around the Country Financial Big Top. The V.I.P. hour begins at 2:00 p.m. and is limited to the ticket purchasers. General Admission begins at 3:30 p.m. and the event runs until 7:30 p.m. Single VIP tickets are $55. Reserve an entire V.I.P. table for $400, which gets you 8 seats at a table with full service catered appetizers and an hour and a half early entry. General admission ($30 online/$35 at the door) allows you entrance to the event and samples of beer and wine from more than 20 vendors. This is a 21-and-older event.

Sunday, September 10th from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Boy Scouts Outdoor Breakfast. Boy Scout Breakfast Burritos, pastries, milk and juice, all cooked and served by our local scouting members.
Sunday, September 10th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The Great Genoa Duck Race finishes off the long weekend along the banks of the Kishwaukee River. Adopt your ducks and cheer them on for a chance to win over $900 in prizes from the Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy more than 30 local vendors under the Country Financial BigTop, including local restaurants and businesses. Enjoy the sounds of the G-K Jazz Band, local DJ Jake Wessner, a hula-hoop contest, jumpy houses and lots of other family fun. The event runs four hours, but make sure you're there for the start of the race at 1:00 p.m.
